China Warned FATF Member Countries to Abstain From Politicizing Forum

China warned FATF Member

China restated its support for Pakistan and warned FATF member countries to abstain from politicizing the forum. As per the official of the Chinese foreign ministry, Beijing is against and has disapproved of the Politicization of FATF as several countries are pursuing a political agenda against Pakistan.

According to Yao Wen, Deputy director for policy planning of Asian affairs, China has recognized Pakistan's efforts in pursuing its National action plan and has encouraged Islamabad's anti-terrorism actions. He further said that the goal of FATF is to help countries in taking action against terrorism, it's not meant to blacklist any country. China has stood with Pakistan and has blocked all the attempts for blacklisting Pakistan. China will help Pakistan technically and politically to improve its system. Yao said Beijing welcomes Islamabad’s decision to establish a separate supervisory body that would help accelerate work on CPEC projects.

Turkey and Malaysia, the traditional allies of Pakistan, also supported the country in the FATF meeting held in October. FATF also appreciated the initiatives taken by Pakistan and the progress of the country and showed satisfaction. As per FATF's 36-member charter, the support of at least 3 countries is necessary to keep any state safe from blacklisting.
